ASUS ROG SWIFT PG32UQX Will Not Feature HDMI 2.1 Support

[ad_1]

Back at CES 2020, ASUS announced the imminent release of yet another high-end gaming monitor into their ROG SWIFT series – the ROG SWIFT PG32UQX. Alongside a whole slew of exciting features and benefits, the new 4K monitor from ASUS was set to be the ‘World’s first Mini LED gaming monitor’ – adding yet another ‘first’ to their ever-growing list of accolades. Fast-forward over 12months and consumers can now finally pre-order the high-end gaming panel. Be aware though, this is far from a budget monitor.

PG32UQX Specifications

The PG32UQX comes equipped with a 32″ IPS-type panel (from AU Optronics) that boasted a 3840 X 2160 resolution alongside a rapid 144Hz refresh rate. A 4ms GTG response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 178/178 viewing angles can also be expected.

Furthermore, the flagship offering will also come with a native G-Sync hardware module (supporting the G-Sync Ultimate certification), HDR1400, and a mini LED backlight with 1152 unique dimming zones.

Console gamers will also be pleased to learn that the PG32UQX will come with VRR technology for XBOX Series X via HDMI connection – meaning it will naturally support FreeSync for AMD systems too.

Another first for this monitor will be the VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification it offers. With 1,152 dimming zones, the new Mini LED backlight will help produce greater local dimming support than any of their previous offerings. The peak brightness of this panel will reach 1400cd/m2 when utilizing an HDR signal – 500cd/m2 in SDR.

Colors are clearly a priority in this panel, offering up a large color gamut that is set to cover 98% of the DCI-P3 spectrum, respectively. Throw in 10-bit color depth, quantum dot coating, and stunning viewing angles, and this monitor soon stands out as one of the best gaming monitors for color and HDR support.

PG32UQX Features

Like all ASUS Monitors, the PG32UQX will also offer superb build quality and versatile stand ergonomics (height, tilt, swivel, pivot).

The OSD provides a tonne of options for fine-tuning your viewing experience, including game, picture, response, and color settings. Game features within the OSD will include Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) – a backlight strobing technology that helps improve the clarity of fast-moving images.

PG32UQX, Just A Gaming Monitor?

ASUS has already stated that this monitor is much more than just a gaming monitor – and that’s easy to see why. The large screen size, high resolution, and fantastic color accuracy make this a standout option for any editor or productivity user. ASUS is claiming a factory pre-calibrated profile that will showcase an average deltaE of <2 – making this a great choice for video and photo editors alike.

The 4K UHD resolution pairs nicely with the 32-inch scale of this panel to provide excellent pixel density that offers great real-estate and image clarity – without the need for desktop scaling.

Will The PG32UQX Feature HDMI 2.1?

Initial rumours of this monitor started to flood the internet around Oct of 2020 after Taobao (a Chinese online shopping website) leaked details of the new monitor. Amongst the rumours, many news articles were published stating that it would come equipped with HDMI 2.1 support. Great news for console gamers – allowing them to reach 120Hz in 4K UHD resolution.

Sadly, ASUS has retracted these claims in recent months, stating that the PG32UQX will NOT offer HDMI 2.1 support.

PG32UQX Release Date And Price

HDMI 2.1 support aside, or lack of, this monitor is still an extremely attractive prospect – especially for anyone looking to purchase a 4K 144Hz monitor. Consumers can now pre-order the monitor via the ASUS store – with orders ending on 23/05/21.

The monitor will retail for an eye-watering $2,999, making this one of the most expensive gaming monitors the market has to offer. However, if you’re looking for the best of the best, it’s hard to knock what this monitor brings to the table.
