Valorant Champions Tour India 2021 Prize Pool, Registration Date Revealed

After IGN was the first to exclusively report that India would get a slot on the Valorant Champions Tour 2021, Riot Games and Nodwin have confirmed the same. Teams from India and South Asia can participate with the world’s best through what’s being officially dubbed as the Valorant Conquerors Championship (VCC) which is the qualifying event for the Valorant Champions Tour APAC Last Chance Qualifiers. There’s a prize pool of Rs. 25,00,000 (around $33,000). The Valorant Conquerors Championship registration date is June 15, 2021 onwards.

There will be six qualifiers for competing countries which include India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. There’s a wildcard entry as well.

“This is a great opportunity for the entire Valorant ecosystem in South Asia to catapult itself to stardom,” claims Nodwin boss Akshat Rathee in a prepared statement (via AFK Gaming). “A representation in the Last Chance Qualifier is much deserved looking at the richness of the community and the amount of buzz it has created in the last year.”

Nodwin didn’t provide IGN India with a statement. This is most likely to do with our reporting into its dealings with PUBG aka Battlegrounds Mobile India company Krafton — and its subsequent name-dropping by politicians calling for a ban on that game. The event was also announced on Riot’s VCT Masters livestream.

Valorant has seen a surge of popularity in India following its release with the likes of Red Bull taking a keen interest in addition to CSGO pros joining the fray. Hopefully these indicate that Riot takes the region seriously going forward.
